The Choice

"Small choices become actions, actions become habits, and habits become our way of life."

The Choice 🫵

I want the best for myself, and I am guessing that you want the best for yourself too -doesn't everyone want that? - but it seems like there are two types of people:

  1. Those who act as if they want the best for themselves
  2. Those who act as if they don't want the best for themselves

Peterson illustrated that with a simple example:

“People are better at filling and properly administering prescription medication to their pets than to themselves.

And he suggested that perhaps some of us love our pets more than ourselves, and we act that way.

Even from your pet’s perspective, it’s not good. Your pet (probably) loves you, and would be happier if you took your medication.”

Where now?

Love yourself, in a practical sense, do the things that you know are good for you, or don't do things that you know are bad for you.

Taking care of yourself is hard, but not taking care of yourself is harder. Choose the best for yourself!

Example:
If you are not doing well with classes, and start disliking yourself because of that so you stop taking care of your physical well-being, well...in 6 months you will have two problems. But if you spent the same 6 months going to the gym, you will be feeling like a winner, and perhaps motivated to tackle the first problem properly.

💪
You might still have one problem, but one success as well, and much more happiness and confidence!

Not everything that happens to you is your fault, but everything that happens to you is your responsibility... because who else is responsible?
