Tim Ferris said that "People don’t want to be millionaires—they want to experience what they believe only millions can buy." Money allows us to experience things that we cannot otherwise, it is a medium between us and an experience.

But Tim makes the point that a medium is not neccessary, and the distance between us and our desired experiences is a distance fear or a senese of unfamiliarity with the idea of fulfilling experiences that don't require money.

Dreamline Worksheet

Dreamlining is an excercise that heps you turn dreams into goals into steps into reality, and calculates the cost of living the dream by defining things you want to have, be, and do in a given time frame.

"Dreamlining is so named because it applies timelines to what most would consider dreams. It is much like goal-setting but differs in several fundamental respects:

  1. The goals shift from ambiguous wants to defined steps.
  2. The goals have to be unrealistic to be effective.
  3. It focuses on activities that will fill the vacuum created when work is removed. Living like a millionaire requires doing interesting things and not just owning enviable things.

Now it’s your turn to think big." -Tim Ferris

The excecise revealed a couple of imoprtnat things for me:

  1. What make me happy is simple
  2. The cost of living "the dream life" is actually very low
  3. Most things that I want to have or be or do are actually free
  4. I should eleminate things in my life that don't get me closer to any of the items on my dream list

Things that inspire

💭 Quote of the week

“It's the sides of the mountain which sustain life, not the top...Mountains should be climbed with as little effort as possible and without desire. The reality of your own nature should determine the speed. If you become restless, speed up. If you become winded, slow down. You climb the mountain in an equilibrium between restlessness and exhaustion. Then, when you’re no longer thinking ahead, each footstep isn’t just a means to an end but a unique event in itself." (Robert M. Pirsig)
